Invite a Contra Costa County Judge to Speak at Your Community Event 

Connect. Learn. Engage.

The Contra Costa County Superior Court is committed to strengthening relationships with the community and expanding public understanding of the justice system. Through our Judicial Community Engagement Program, local judges are available to speak with community groups across the county. 

Whether your group focuses on civic service, community leadership, education, or public dialogue, our judges are eager to share insight into the work of the courts and engage directly with residents. 

Why Invite a Judge to Speak? 

  • Encourage informed conversations about the justice system 

  • Learn how court processes work from those who serve in them 

  • Gain clarity on commonly misunderstood aspects of the courts 

  • Inspire civic engagement and community awareness 

  • Build stronger connections between the court and the public it serves 

Who Can Request a Speaker?

We welcome requests from: 

  • Community and civic groups 

  • Leadership and service organizations 

  • Educational or youth programs 

  • Nonprofit and public interest groups 

  • Faith-based organizations 

If your organization brings people together to learn, serve, or engage, we invite you to connect with us. 

What Topics Can Judges Speak About? 

Judges may present on a variety of general educational topics, such as: 

  • The role of the courts in the community 

  • How cases move through the court system 

  • The importance of jury service 

  • How judges get to be judges/qualifications to become a judge 

  • Judicial ethical rules and the judicial discipline system 

  • Preventing bias  

  • Judicial training and subspecialties (i.e., domestic violence, Juvenile, Family, criminal, civil, etc.) 

(Please note: Judges are unable to discuss pending cases or topics that may come before the court or provide legal advice or referrals.)
