Services

The Court is currently open for in-person filings from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Court encourages people to file documents by drop box or mail. Filing fees must be included (there is no filing fee for Domestic Violence Restraining Orders ("DVROs"). The drop box is located in front of the Peter Spinetta Family Law Building, 751 Pine Street, Martinez, CA, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Filings submitted by mail should be sent to: Family Law, 751 Pine Street, Martinez, CA 94553. A self-addressed stamped envelope of an appropriate size and with enough postage must be included for the return of documents.

All Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO) paperwork should be submitted in person or filed via the Court's E-Filing portal. DVRO paperwork filed via E-Filing will have a copy returned through the E-Filing portal. However, certified copies will still need to be picked up at the applicable Courthouse. 

Background Information

The Peter L. Spinetta Family Law Center houses five of Contra Costa County's seven family law-related courtrooms at 751 Pine Street in Martinez. Every effort has been made to ensure that the Spinetta facility is accessible, convenient and user friendly.

Entrance/Security

Everyone entering the Spinetta Center must go through a security check to help make sure that everyone in the building is safe at all times. 

Family Law Facilitator Services

Persons who do not have a lawyer to represent them in Court may wish to seek the assistance of a Family Law Facilitator. The Family Law Facilitator’s Office is not offering in-person services at the courthouse at this time. Domestic Violence Restraining Order & Ex Parte Window

The Domestic Violence Restraining Order Window in the Spinetta Center is available for people who prefer to submit paper copies of their Domestic Violence Restraining Order forms and for persons seeking other emergency orders. However, requests for domestic violence restraining orders may also be emailed to the court.

Mediation and Investigation Windows

The Mediations and Investigations windows are at the rear of the lobby in the Spinetta Center. These windows are used to check in for appointments with mediators and Child Custody Recommending Counselors. 

Filing Windows

The Family Law filing counter is located just inside the building, on the left. Family Law staff accepts all filings in family law cases except requests for Temporary Emergency Orders and Domestic Violence Restraining Order papers. The filing windows also accept payment of family law filing fees. Clerk windows open to the public at 8:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM.

Drop Box

The drop box is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is located in front of the Spinetta Family Law building at 751 Pine Street, Martinez, CA 94553.

  • Be sure to include the original of your document(s), at least two copies, any applicable filing fee or fee waiver application, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope with appropriate postage for the court to return your filed documents to you.
  • If you need envelopes or postage, there is a post office located nearby: 815 Court Street, Martinez, CA 94553.
